I will be honest, I always liked the concept behind Fiverr.com.

Only a couple clicks and a customer can put an order using a freelancer according to a specific set of deliverables.

Easy peasy, right? Sure, however, it comes at a price. A significant one.

That is one the very few freelance platforms at which buyers have been given free reign to abuse, threaten and outright blackmail sellers any way they like.

Why? Since Fiverr turn a blind eye on it.

In this informative article, I would like to share a new bad experience for a seller on Fiverr, also why I chose to give up on the stage entirely.

How A Normal Order Quickly Turned Into A Hostage Situation

(I've been guiding her on building a reputable accounts, and how to go beyond and above with every last order. Everything mentioned is her doing, I am just an observer.)

In cases like this, she'd only gotten another $5 order on her emblem gig, which seemed to be like another... so we believed.

The order was fulfilled in great time, and my girlfriend had even included a bonus emblem concept in addition to the source file (which is usually a part of the pricier bundle ).

The customer"loved" one of the concepts so we moved to send her the appropriates file sizes, as stated in the gig description.

The client came back requesting a social media kit to decide on the emblem, something that is obviously not available as part of her or his gig.

Against my advice, my buddy decided to deliver the extra work, despite not getting paid any extra for this.

Following that, the client responded with more demands and some changes to the social media files.

At this time, she consented enough was enough.

Despite every attempt to please this person, they were clearly overstepping their boundaries here.

That is when the customer went from only overstepping bounds to unquestionable blackmail. (The equivalent of taking my girlfriend's Fiverr standing hostage.)

While she took some time to contemplate a response and reach to Fiverr support for help, the client did eventually go right ahead and render a 1 star review.

Presumably this was to demonstrate her he/she wasn't Fiverr Review: How to Find Virtual Assistants that Don't Suck - Crowd ... kidding.

Soon after, while waiting on Fiverr's answer to the support query, the client paid an extra $10 for the social networking kit.

Obviously, the payment was accompanied by still another threat.

Now, all I wanted to do was move all Liam Neeson and search this individual down so I could punch them from the face.

But, at the moment, I still had hope that Fiverr service would step in and save my girlfriend from this PITA client.

When the answer came back from Fiverr service, they told her they could All the Product Reviews Money Can Buy - The New York Times not force the buyer to take the purchase.

Alright, that is fair enough. (Even though the buyer already accepted see it, technically.)

In addition they proposed drawing up a listing for the buyer to reveal the job has been completed in accordance to the gig requirements.

My girlfriend communicated in her initial email the customer was trying to extort her for free work out the agreed terms, by leaving a negative inspection if she did not comply.

Naturally, it wasn't about the work, it had been about seeking protection against an abusive client who was blatantly pushing their luck.

Their reply didn't give us any confidence that Fiverr actually knew , and even at this point we felt as though they didn't wish to get involved.

At the exact same time, she also responded to the buyers newest danger, explaining that she would not continue to operate together unless the feedback had been changed/removed.

(Again, this can be comments that was obviously and intentionally made to bully her into supplying function outside the agreed conditions .)

An honest request by anyones standards, correct? Well, apparently not.

Instead of acknowledge what the buyer had completed until this point, Fiverr instantly turned the tables in my girlfriend.

Turns out, she was the one breaking all the rules.

Because she had requested the client to modify their feedback, she was no more eligible for any help from Fiverr support.

It is possible to imagine how we felt studying this.

Everything that the buyer had done and said before her last message was now being swept under the carpet -- like never happened in any way.

Fiverr basically decided to encourage a manipulative bully, leaving my girlfriend using a permanent stain on an accounts she'd worked so difficult to accumulate.

If everything that happened wasn't troubling enough, it is knowing that this person is still running rampant on Fiverr, preying on defensless vendors with no sprinkling of repercussion.

And think, there are loads of buyers doing precisely this on Fiverr, knowing they can and will eliminate it.

But as most this was occurring, I did some research to find out if any other vendors went through a similar ordeal with a buyer.

Very quickly, I found a variety of almost equal cases about the Fiverr forum obsolete years ago. (that's correct, years.)

This is obviously something that's been going on for quite a while and it all stems from providing buyers too much power over sellers.

When there's 1 thing I have learned about Fiverr, it is that customers are ALWAYS more appreciated than freelancers.

Doesn't matter how much time that you put into a project, or how hard you worked on itor even how long you managed communication in a dispute, even as it actually boils down to it... freelancers have little to no security.

Even if it is a clear cut case in your favor, there is still every chance the customer will come out on top. It takes it one tiny thing you"did wrong" in accordance with their own terms of support and EVERYTHING else is ignored

Looking at the signs, it's clear to me which Fiverr is well aware of what's going on, yet is still inclined to sit back and let it happen.

If you are a decision maker at Fiverr and you're reading this, I implore you to seriously reevaluate your current support processes for freelancers.

It is not right that somebody can set all that time and effort into building up an account and over-delivering at every possible chance, just to be taken down by the very people you rely on to protect you.

Look, I really don't want to abandon Fiverr. I don't need to be telling people to avoid your platform.

But after everything that's occurred, you haven't left me any decision.

Until something is done in order to protect freelancers from this sort of abuse, I will continue to propagate this article and do whatever I could to prevent others from falling victim to your one-sided support staff.

The second you actually do something about this and also give freelancers a way to fight back, I'll be happy to update the article.
